Overview

The VP or Director of Human Resources will be a strategic and operational leader, tasked with building and scaling the HR infrastructure to support a fast-growing medical device startup currently launching its first products. This position will drive people strategies that attract top talent, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and create a high-performance culture. The ideal candidate has experience scaling HR functions during high-growth phases and is passionate about shaping a culture of innovation and excellence in a regulated environment.



Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a scalable HR roadmap aligned with the company’s product launch timeline and long-term growth strategy.
  • Partner with the executive team to create an organizational structure that supports scaling operations for the 2025 product launch.
  • Lead change management initiatives to align the workforce with the company’s rapid growth trajectory.

·  Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning:

  • Build and manage recruitment strategies to attract top-tier talent in engineering, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing roles critical to product launch.
  • Forecast and address workforce needs to support pre-commercialization and post-launch phases.
  • Implement recruitment marketing and employer branding strategies to position the company as an employer of choice in the medtech industry.

·  Employee Relations & Engagement:

  • Foster a collaborative and mission-driven culture that aligns employees with the company’s vision for launching innovative medical devices.
  • Develop programs to engage, motivate, and retain high-performing teams during periods of rapid change.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations issues, ensuring fairness and alignment with company values.

Training & Development:

  • Design and implement training programs focused on regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485), quality standards, and commercial readiness.
  • Build leadership development initiatives to prepare managers for scaling operations and team growth.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Develop competitive compensation strategies, including equity programs, tailored to the needs of a scaling startup.
  • Ensure benefits packages are attractive and aligned with market standards for the medtech industry.

·  Policy Development & Compliance:

  • Create and enforce HR policies tailored to a high-growth, regulated environment preparing for product commercialization.
  • Ensure the company remains compliant with employment laws and medical device industry regulations.

·  HR Operations & Metrics:

  • Establish efficient HR systems, processes, and metrics to support a rapidly scaling workforce.
  • Analyze HR data to identify trends, address workforce challenges, and inform leadership decisions.

Experience/Competencies

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role within a high-growth startup.
  • Proven track record of scaling HR functions during product development and pre-commercialization phases.
  • Experience in the medical device, biotech, or healthcare sectors, with knowledge of FDA and ISO 13485 compliance preferred.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
